You can’t tell by looking at it, but I’ve programmed the county map with the updates for the coming ride. Every evening it will change to reflect the day’s progress, coloring in any new counties I’ve been to.
That doesn’t mean it’ll be changing every night, though. The first three days it’ll look the same as it does now, since it won’t be until Day 3 (the 20th) that I reach any new ones, and it doesn’t update until supper time (when I’m presumably done riding). Then there will be three days where I’m hitting new counties each day. After that, I’ll stop in Keweenaw County to hike on Isle Royale, and that’s three more days of no changes. Next I’ll hit the last two new counties in one day, followed by another couple days of riding through old territory. So it’ll be a little sporadic.
I thought about blanking the already-been-there counties, so you could see my progress better, but decided against it. I think it looks cooler to see the map reaching “finished” status. Especially that tense three-day period where there will be just two more to go! 🙂
